ILNA: The head of the Expediency Discernment Council, referring to the Supreme Leader's remarks in a recent meeting with representatives of experts, said: "The enemies of Islam have a plan to fuel Shiite and Sunni differences, and evidence shows that religious war may be one of the major dangers in the future." In a meeting with Ali Akbar Velayati, the deputy heads and directors of the Center for Strategic Research, Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani considered empathy and cooperation among all sectors of society to be one of the main necessities of the country’s current situation and said: “Given the set of issues happening in the region, the best way to overcome problems and succeed is to strengthen the factors of unity and avoid divisive positions.” Regarding domestic issues, the head of the Expediency Discernment Council, while explaining the events of recent months, especially the early days of the new year, said: “It seems that some people have abandoned the interests of the system and their main goal is to instill weakness, while the people’s despair in society is not good for the system.” He considered the results of the March 27 elections to reflect the thoughts of society and said: “Unfortunately, some who did not have the capacity to compete in elections turned to insulting the nation, which also ends up being detrimental to the system.” Hashemi Rafsanjani described the rational expression of opinions and fair criticism as constructive for advancing the goals of the Islamic Revolution and accelerating the country's movement towards development and progress, adding: "What is not good and is to the detriment of everyone is political threats, immoral destruction, and social insults." Stating that the wise men of the nation should sit down and talk so that the country does not fall into vindictive differences, he said: "In the global dimension, we should not let the world doubt Iran's internal solidarity and honesty in its principled positions." Emphasizing Iran's rich resources, Hashemi Rafsanjani said: "We have promising areas like South Pars, which, due to sharing underground resources with neighbors, we witness every day that the capital of the country's current and future generations is being taken by others or is burning, while from every flame that burns, dozens of petrochemicals and even electricity can be produced, which are essential needs of the world." The head of the Expediency Discernment Council, citing examples of the great enthusiasm of foreigners to be present and invest in Iran, said: "Many foreign investors and companies are ready and waiting for Iran's permission to carry out major works related to huge projects that can complement the actions of Iranian companies to fully exploit resources."
