The UN report states that 6,000 cases of violence against children have been committed by government forces in countries including Myanmar, Syria, and Yemen.
There were also 15,000 reported cases of violence against children by armed groups fighting government forces in various regions. The highest number of such violence, with 2,896 cases, was committed against children in Syria.
The report also states that the number of violence against children in 2017 increased sharply compared to the previous year in countries such as Myanmar, Iraq, the Central African Republic, and Congo.
In 2016, the number of children killed or injured in armed conflicts around the world was reported to be around 8,000, nearly 2,000 fewer than in 2017.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over the sharp increase in violence against children around the world.
