Livelihood protests continue in Iran; retirees in various cities, steel workers in Ahvaz, and livestock farmers in Yazd

Ahvaz Steel workers stopped work for the second consecutive day on Monday, February 15, and held a march to protest the failure to meet their demands for a salary increase and the resolution of their livelihood problems.

According to citizen reports, the protesting workers chanted the slogan "Steel worker, unity, unity" and called on their other colleagues to join the protests.

Karim Siahi, one of the protesters, emphasized in a speech that "God's victory is near," adding: "One truth can never be erased, and that is our struggle."

Protesting Ahvaz Steel workers gathered in front of the governor's office after receiving instructions, while at the same time, municipal workers gathered in front of the governor's office to protest the non-payment of their arrears. The two protesting worker groups joined forces and chanted the slogan "Steel, Municipality, Unity, Unity."

In another incident on Monday, Yazd livestock farmers held a protest rally in front of the city's slaughterhouse and declared a strike.

One protester stated that the Minister of Agricultural Jihad "has put livestock farmers to work with beautiful and colorful promises" and with "promises of harvest" has caused "all their productive livestock" to be destroyed over the past few months.

This protesting livestock farmer, stating that the protesters are addressing the people, and pointing out that "we livestock farmers are suffocating the producers," emphasized: "We ourselves have come as a spontaneous movement to say that they have endangered the food security of our country. We ourselves have gone on strike to say that in the coming years, don't go and buy meat for 700,000 tomans per kilo."

On Sunday, stock exchange shareholders held a protest rally in front of the judiciary in Tehran, chanting slogans including "Our stock exchange, our money-burning furnace," "Three-day promises are burning the nation's money," "The parliament has never seen a nation so unscrupulously," "Khandouzi, resign," "Shareholders, stand up," and "Chairman, where have your promises gone?"

Also on Sunday, retirees and pensioners in Tabriz held a protest march, chanting slogans: "Incompetent manager, resign!" and "Enough promises, our table is empty."

Protesting retirees and social security pensioners also held marches and rallies on Sunday in several large and small cities, including Tehran, to pursue their demands.

These rallies were held in Tehran in front of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and in the cities of Rasht, Arak, Shushtar, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Shush, Khorramabad, Ahvaz, Sanandaj, and Mashhad in front of the provincial social security building.

The protesting retirees stated that some of their demands include increasing pensions in line with the poverty line, implementing the salary equalization law, resolving supplementary insurance problems, paying year-end bonuses, and taking into account difficult and harmful job histories in proportionality calculations.

Meanwhile, the Free Union of Iranian Workers reported a protest rally by a group of people who lost their property at the Reagan Automobile Company in front of the company's building in Tehran. These people have been registered and paid for three years, but have not yet received their cars.

In Tabriz, a group of street vendors gathered to protest the dismantling and collection of their belongings by municipal officials.

The Free Union of Iranian Workers also announced that Sepahan Cement workers in Isfahan will continue to gather at their workplace to protest low wages and lack of job security. The workers are demanding the return of their fired colleagues.

Reports also indicate that Baharestan taxi drivers are gathering and striking to protest the payment of tolls on the Tehran-Saveh freeway.
