Continued arrests; a report on the latest situation of Hamedan power plant engineers

Javad Ashrafi and Amin Ashrafi, engineers at the Hamedan Power Plant, who were arrested by security forces on January 11 of this year, were transferred to an unknown location again in recent days under the guise of "completing the interrogation process," despite the announcement that their interrogation had ended and that they had been transferred from the security detention center to Hamedan prison.
Relatives of these individuals say they are under pressure to make false confessions. Despite the passage of 14 days since their arrest, there is still no information about the legal status of the two power plant engineers, including the reasons for their arrest.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists Association in Iran, 14 days after the arrest of two Hamedani engineers, there is still no information about the status of these individuals.
Javad Ashrafi and Amin Ashrafi, two engineers from Hamedan who were arrested by security forces at their workplace on January 11 of this year, were transferred to the general ward of Hamedan Prison last week after days of interrogation.
A source close to the families of these individuals told HRANA: “After days of interrogation and enduring mental torture, sometimes accompanied by beatings, the two spoke during a brief phone call with their families about the pressure exerted by the interrogators to make unrealistic confessions.”
The informed source continued: "Just a few days after they were transferred from the detention center to prison, they were transferred again this week by an unknown entity to an unknown location under the pretext of additional interrogation."
According to this source close to Javad and Amin Ashrafi, "During this time, the families of these two prisoners have visited the prison and the court every day, but they have not been given a response. Only once have they managed to meet with one of the judges of the Revolutionary Court, where they were told that we have released everyone who was innocent, but the case of these two people is serious and we are dealing with them."
In light of the news that has been published about the indictment of a large number of detainees of the January 2019 events in Hamedan on serious charges such as "moharebeh" and "corruption on earth," these statements by the Revolutionary Court judge have caused great concern among the families.
Given that the institution detaining these individuals is unknown, the families of these individuals have continued their repeated efforts to contact the judiciary daily, although they have not yet yielded any results.
Relatives of the two Hamedani engineers say that Javad and Amin Ashrafi, two Hamedani engineers, are the only source of income and support for their family due to financial poverty and poor economic situation.
Javad Ashrafi's mother reportedly suffers from heart disease and has suffered serious health problems several times due to her son's absence.
Regarding the arrest of these two Hamedani engineers, HRANA had previously reported, “On the morning of Thursday, January 11, these two power plant engineers were arrested by security forces at 8:00 AM at their workplace without providing a warrant or explanation for the reason for their arrest and taken to an unknown location.”
