Several dead and injured in shooting at church in Kentucky

US police announced the deaths and injuries of several Christians following a shooting at a church in Kentucky.

Lexington police released a statement following the shooting incident at a Baptist church in the city on Sunday, July 13, saying: "This incident occurred after the suspect first shot a state police officer near the Blue Grass Airport and then fled to the Richmond Road Baptist Church."

According to police, the suspect entered the church and opened fire on several people, killing two and wounding several others. Police also said the shooter died at the scene, but no details have been released about how he died.

The police statement also said the officer who was shot and injured by the suspect is currently receiving medical attention and is in stable condition. Bluegrass Airport officials said the incident had no impact on flights.

Kentucky Governor Andy Bashir also posted a message on his X social media account, praising the police's quick response and asking people to pray for the victims of the incident.
