The hijab is an excuse for suppressing the target, by a government that has taken people's freedom hostage.

In the latest security scenario, an audio file attributed to the Ministry of Intelligence shows how the hijab has become a tool of control and pressure on women, minorities, and citizens.

While Iran faces economic crises, structural corruption, unprecedented elite migration, social instability, and political pressures, the country's latest media controversy is not about inflation or the livelihood crisis, but about the "hijab"; an issue that has once again become the main fuel for the apparatus of repression, while officials and their families live in complete peace and quiet, outside of any oversight.

The release of an 11-minute audio file claiming to contain a “report from the Ministry of Intelligence to the Leader” on the situation of the hijab has sparked a wave of reactions. The anonymous speaker, speaking in a completely fundamentalist tone, makes a series of claims that have not been confirmed by any official source; but its content is exactly what has been implemented on the streets in recent years: control of women, intimidation of citizens, and implementation of security plans under the guise of “preserving chastity.”

In this audio file, the speaker says: "After the 12-day war, a large-scale operation by the enemy is taking place across the country with heavy planning; holding meetings with open corruption of dancing and drinking and rapid media coverage. Mr. Khatib reported this situation to the Leader, and the Leader called the report shocking and raised 5 axes."

According to his claim, Ali Khamenei has given five specific orders, including: "One: Give this painful report to the president so that he can study it in full. Two: The Ministry of Intelligence should deal severely with the perpetrators of these cases."
"Three: Discussion sessions between revolutionary children on the issue of hijab and chastity must be held. Four: Cultural, propaganda movements, and mosques must engage in serious confrontation; this movement is a confrontational movement. Five: All intellectual and propaganda groups must confront this great evil."

In another part of the audio file, the speaker says from a meeting in the leadership's office: "The office of the leader gathered the relevant officials and read the letter of the leader. If you see that Mr. Mohseni-Ejei gave two separate speeches about supporting the well-known authorities, it is because of this."

Then he mentioned the issue of government intervention and added: "The doctors are also presenting the report to the cabinet and saying that no one should back down and we will go into operation. Three people opposed it: Rabiei, Behrouz Azar, and Elias Hazrati. The doctors are harsh with all three. Mr. Khatib also says that we have brought our forces to the line. What is on the government's table today is this plan. The hijab bill has 11 operational articles and it is supposed to not officially announce that this law is being implemented, but that it will be implemented clause by clause; from the discussion of text messages and providing services to revelations, etc."

He also said about the implementation of the SMS plan to people who are not wearing a hijab or are wearing a bad hijab: "The SMS was first implemented in Isfahan. We got great results and now it is going to be implemented in 11 provinces. The work is starting with the revelations. The second SMS was sent to less than 25 percent of them, most of whom are divorced women and daughters of divorced families. The third SMS does not have the Bismillah and Salam and is for security purposes. This SMS is for hired thugs or those affiliated with the People's Mojahedin."

Finally, he addresses a completely political issue and adds: "The liberal current is proposing a project to bypass doctors; their excuse is inefficiency, but that is the face of the matter."

The leak of this audio file suggests that the government has abandoned the real crisis and is clinging to “controlling the people.” These narratives, true or false, reveal one thing: “In Iran, people’s freedom is the most important victim of politics.”

A government that has been evading accountability for years regarding corruption, poverty, unemployment, youth migration, religious discrimination, oppression of minorities, and a crisis of legitimacy has now once again turned the hijab into a political tool; a tool that allows certain groups to "interfere in people's lives."

In contrast, the families of officials (the same ones who speak of "chastity") abroad or in specific regions of Iran,
They live without veils, without restrictions, and without fear. They do not receive text messages, are not banned from using the service, and are not under security cameras. This blatant dichotomy has eroded public trust for years.

For the Iranian Christian community, especially citizens who have freely chosen their faith, these policies have a familiar meaning: “Controlling body covering is a prelude to controlling belief.”

When the government decides what you wear, it naturally decides what you read, what you believe, and what groups you attend. The standard is the same: “You have no choice.” And this message is completely anti-Christian, anti-spiritual, and anti-freedom of conscience.

Today, more than ever, Iran does not need guidance patrols, threatening text messages, or security plans. What this country needs is freedom of dress, freedom of religion and belief, respect for human dignity, and accountability of officials. The hijab is just an excuse to suppress the target.
