"The attack on Saudi Arabia took place by crossing our airspace"

The chiefs of staff of the Arab Gulf states said that the attacks on Saudi oil facilities were carried out through the airspace of the Gulf Cooperation Council. They stressed the principle of joint efforts to protect the territories of these countries.
The chiefs of staff of the Arab Gulf states condemned the use of their countries' airspace to carry out last month's attack on Saudi oil facilities, which Saudi Arabia and the United States have blamed on Iran.
The attacks on the Abqaiq and Khurais oil facilities owned by Saudi Aramco took place on September 14, sending oil prices soaring and causing severe damage to the Saudi oil industry. According to the International Energy Agency, the incident caused the most severe disruption to oil supplies in history.
Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attacks, but US officials said they originated in southwestern Iran. Riyadh blames Iran, which backs the Houthis in the war in Yemen, and denies the charges.
The meeting of the chiefs of staff of the armies of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states was held in Riyadh at the request of Saudi Arabia. In addition to Saudi Arabia, five smaller countries - Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait - are members of this political-commercial bloc.
Participants in the meeting condemned last month's attacks and other attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure and earlier attacks on ships traveling in the Persian Gulf.
A statement issued after the meeting also condemned "the violation of the airspace of some countries to carry out the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia."
The statement thus supports the US report on the attacks, which states that the missiles or drones used to attack Saudi Arabia were launched from the airspace of one of the country's neighbors to the east, and not from Yemen to the south.
The chiefs of staff of the armies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries emphasized the principle of collective security and called for joint efforts of their military forces. They announced their support for operations by Saudi Arabia or any other Gulf Cooperation Council country to protect its territory.
