Narges Mohammadi's sentence of 30 months in prison and 80 lashes "has been served on her in Evin Prison"

Taghi Rahmani, a political activist living in Paris and the husband of Narges Mohammadi, announced on Wednesday, November 16, that the civil activist was transferred to Evin Prison after being arrested at the anniversary of Ebrahim Kebatdar and said in a phone call that he had been sentenced to 30 months in prison and (80 lashes) of flogging.

Mr. Rahmani wrote on Twitter that the phone call was disconnected after Narges Mohammadi said she would not allow him to be whipped and would resist the flogging sentence.

Relatives of Ms. Mohammadi, a human rights activist, reported on Tuesday that she had been beaten and arrested at the grave of Ebrahim Kebatdar, one of those killed in the November 2019 protests.

Arash Sadeghi, a civil activist and former political prisoner, also tweeted on Wednesday that Narges Mohammadi is currently being held in solitary confinement in Ward 2-A, the IRGC's intelligence security ward, in Evin Prison.

Narges Mohammadi was transferred to prison on May 5, 2015, to serve her sentence, and was released from Zanjan Prison on October 6, 2020, using the law to reduce prison sentences.

In a new case opened against her in recent months, Ms. Mohammadi has been sentenced to "80 lashes, 30 months of penal servitude, and two counts of financial payment" on charges such as "propaganda against the regime," "sit-in at the prison office," "rebellion against the prison administration and officials," "destruction of windows," and "slander" on charges of torture and assault.

Narges Mohammadi was summoned to Evin District Court in early October of this year to serve her new sentence. The civil activist and spokesperson for the Center for Defenders of Human Rights in Iran announced on October 25 that she would “defy” the sentence.

He emphasized in a note on his Instagram page, "If they forcefully return him to prison, he will continue to protest from inside prison."

This civil activist has long been denied the right to have a passport, leave the country, and visit her two children who live in France.
