Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to 8 years in prison, flogging, and social exclusion in prison.

Taghi Rahmani, a political activist and the husband of human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, announced in a Twitter message that a final sentence of eight years and two months in prison, flogging, and social exclusion was handed down to Ms. Mohammadi in Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

Ms. Mohammadi had previously been transferred from Qarchak Prison in Varamin to the hospital due to shortness of breath. According to Mr. Rahmani, his wife was returned to the prison from the hospital on February 20th without a recovery period, and with one of her heart arteries blocked.

Mr. Rahmani has written that "Qarchak is not a prison, it is a torture chamber," and that his wife's transfer there is for revenge.

On January 19, human rights activist Narges Mohammadi was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin after two months of interrogation and imprisonment in solitary confinement in the Ministry of Intelligence's detention center, known as Ward 209 of Evin.
