Families of Ukrainian passenger plane victims gather in front of the Armed Forces Judicial Organization

On Sunday, February 16, the families of those killed in the Ukrainian passenger plane gathered in front of the Armed Forces Judicial Organization and shouted for justice.

According to Canada's CBC television network, one of the protesters at the rally asked: "Have you summoned Mr. Hajizadeh to court? Answer us."

Amir Ali Hajizadeh is the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Aerospace Force.

On the morning of Wednesday, January 8, 2019, a Ukrainian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger plane, bound for Kiev with 176 passengers, was shot down by two missiles fired by the Revolutionary Guards after taking off from Tehran Airport.

For several days, Iranian officials blamed the crash on a technical fault. But the United States immediately announced that the plane had been shot down. After several days, the Revolutionary Guards finally admitted that they had mistakenly targeted the plane. This delay in revealing the truth and the regime's deception sparked public outrage and protests.

However, not only have those responsible for downing the plane not yet been brought to justice, but several civil society activists who protested the IRGC's actions have also been sentenced to prison by the Iranian judiciary.

According to CBC, the families of those killed in the passenger plane crash met with Sadegh Arabzadeh, the deputy prosecutor of the judiciary. In part of the footage from the gathering, Mr. Arabzadeh's voice can be heard saying: "We cannot accuse anyone like this. The investigation process has its own stages."

Iran says it has prosecuted six people for shooting down the PS-752 passenger plane, but has not released their names, the charges they face, or other details.
