Suicide of a child laborer in Mahshahr

On Monday, February 13, a child laborer in Mahshahr County committed suicide by hanging himself. The motive for the boy's suicide, who was fourteen years old, was stated to be poverty and hardship. The Iranian Forensic Medicine Organization has stated that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7 percent.

According to HRANA news agency, quoting Asr Junob, on Monday, February 13, 2020, a 14-year-old child laborer named Mohammad committed suicide by hanging himself in Mahshahr and died.

One of Mohammad's friends says: "Poverty and hardship are the main reasons for his decision to end his life."

According to the report, the teenage boy was a street vendor and had recently turned to selling purified water, but with the outbreak of the coronavirus, no one was willing to buy water from this child vendor.

Mohammad lived with his parents in one of the poor neighborhoods of Mahshahr city in Khuzestan province.

The Iranian Forensic Medicine Organization has announced that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7%.
