The Court of Appeals has upheld the one-year prison sentence for the mother of one of the victims killed in 2009.
حکم یکسال حبس تعزیری «شهناز اکملی» مادر «مصطفی کریم بیگی» یکی از کشتهشدگان در اعتراضات عاشورای سال ۱۳۸۸، عینا در دادگاه تجدیدنظر تأیید شده است.
«مریم کریم بیگی» دختر شهناز اکملی، روز دوشنبه ۸ مهرماه در صفحه توئیتر خود از تایید حکم یک سال حبس مادرش در دادگاه تجدید نظر خبر داد. صدای آمریکا نمیتواند به طور مستقل این خبر را تایید کند.
خانم کریم بیگی نوشت: «حکم مادرم در دادگاه تجدید نظر عیناً تایید شد، این حکم در حالی تایید شد که پرونده قتل برادرم در همان دادسرای اوین که پرونده مادرم تشکیل شد خاک میخورد، انتظار زیادی نیست که قاتل مصطفی زندان باشد نه مادرم به جرم دادخواهی.»
Shahnaz Akmali had previously been sentenced to one year in prison and banned from membership in cyberspace by one of the branches of the Revolutionary Court.
Ms. Akmal, who for the past 10 years has been seeking justice and finding the perpetrators of her son's murder, was sentenced to one year in prison, banned from leaving the country, banned from political activity, and banned from membership in cyberspace on charges of "propaganda against the regime."
His son, Mustafa Karim Beigi, was shot in the head and killed during protests against the results of the 2009 presidential election on January 26 of that year, which coincided with Ashura.
According to reports, security officials handed over his body to his family on the condition that the funeral be held outside Tehran, far from his residence, and that no one except his father, mother, and sister be present at the ceremony. Mostafa’s body was buried in Shahriar long after his death.
