Qazvin Mayor's Request to Evacuate One of the City's 70 Unsafe Towers

In a letter to the owners of the Persian Gulf Tower in the city, the mayor of Qazvin asked them to evacuate the tower within a week.

Mehr News Agency reported on Thursday, July 2nd that the letter referred to the order of the Qazvin prosecutor, as well as repeated warnings from the Qazvin Municipality and the Fire and Safety Services Organization about the insecurity of the Persian Gulf Tower building.

The letter states that if the tower is not evacuated, the Qazvin Municipality will evacuate and seal the tower in coordination with the police command and other relevant agencies.

The report adds that the request to evacuate this building was announced while, according to the Director General of the Qazvin Provincial Office of Urban and Municipalities, there are 70 structurally unsafe towers in Qazvin.

On Thursday, the decision to evacuate the medical ward of Tehran's Rasoul Akram Hospital was also announced due to the lack of necessary building safety.

Reza Karamimohammadi, head of the Tehran Crisis Prevention and Management Organization, recently announced that "50 hospitals in Tehran lack safety, and we will announce their names whenever they allow."

Following the collapse of the Metropole building in Abadan and the death of dozens of people under the rubble, authorities have announced an inspection of a number of government and private buildings.
