Elon Musk meets with Saeed Iravani at the request of the Islamic Republic

At the request of the Islamic Republic, Elon Musk met with Saeed Iravani, the Islamic Republic's ambassador to the United Nations.

According to the Associated Press, an American official, who did not wish to be named, confirmed that the Islamic Republic had asked Elon Musk to meet with Saeed Iravani, the Islamic Republic's ambassador to the United Nations, but the New York Times, in publishing this news, stated that the request for the meeting came from Elon Musk.

According to the Associated Press, the meeting between Elon Musk and Saeed Iravani took place on Monday, November 11, at the request of the Islamic Republic. During the meeting, both sides discussed the Iranian government's "nuclear program," "Tehran's support for anti-Israel groups in the Middle East," and "the prospects for improving relations between Tehran and Washington," but no decision has been made yet. It should be noted that their meeting was not held at the Islamic Republic's mission to the United Nations.

News agencies reacted differently to the meeting. The Kayhan newspaper, which is run by Hossein Shariatmadari, a representative of Ali Khamenei, wrote in response to the publication of the news of the secret meeting: "Conducting such a meeting is beyond the authority of the Masoud Pezzekian government." However, the Sobh-e-No newspaper, which is associated with Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, viewed the meeting positively and, in response to the meeting, examined the positive features of Elon Musk's role in Iran and the United States.

The newspaper, referring to US President-elect Donald Trump and his characteristics, wrote: "Trump is known for using unconventional tactics in policymaking and diplomacy. He has repeatedly shown that he is interested in using non-diplomatic actors to solve complex issues. The choice of Musk as an unofficial envoy can be seen as part of this unconventional strategy in relation to Iran."

The "Event 24" website, in response to the publication of the news by the "Sobh Now" newspaper, pointed out that the conservative "Sobh Now" newspaper considers Elon Musk's closeness to Donald Trump, the US president-elect, an important feature, and emphasized: "This position allows Musk to act as a mediator between the two countries, without being directly involved in official diplomatic structures."

The New York Times also published a report quoting two Islamic Republic officials without mentioning their names, writing: "Elon Musk met with Iravani at a secret location on November 11 and discussed ways to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington."
