US Supreme Court Approves Trump’s Plan to Restrict Green Card Issuance

The US Supreme Court once again sided with Trump’s hardline approach toward immigrants. Permanent US residency has become unattainable for many immigrants. America can now deny green cards to those who receive government assistance.
The US Supreme Court approved the Trump administration’s plan to take a harder line against immigrants. The highest judicial body in the United States overturned a lower court ruling that had prevented the implementation of new guidelines to restrict the issuance of permanent US residency.
Against four liberal members of the US Supreme Court, five conservative justices voted in favor of the new laws proposed by the government to impose restrictions on granting permanent residency to immigrants.
The new laws allow the US government to deny green cards to immigrants who need to receive government financial assistance. Green card recipients are granted permanent residency in the United States.
The new changes to green card issuance regulations could potentially affect the future of approximately 22 million immigrants who use free food stamps, medical services, and other free government services.
The White House has welcomed the US Supreme Court ruling as a “great victory for American taxpayers, American workers, and the American Constitution.”
A hardline approach toward immigrants is considered one of the main pillars of the policy of Donald Trump, the President of the United States. He has long been working to reform the American immigration system based on the labor market needs of the country.
Trump has introduced two conservative judges to serve on the US Supreme Court since the beginning of his presidency, and the court has repeatedly endorsed his hardline policies toward immigrants.
