Reuters: First Iranian fuel shipment to be transported by truck from Syrian port to Lebanon

The first ship carrying Iranian fuel to Lebanon, which Hezbollah had previously announced an agreement with Tehran to send to help offset Lebanon's fuel shortage, will not go directly to the country.

On Thursday, September 1, Reuters news agency reported, citing two informed sources, that to circumvent problems caused by US sanctions, this Iranian fuel shipment will be transported by truck from Syria to Lebanon.

According to a Reuters source, the decision was made not due to concerns about a possible Israeli or American attack on an Iranian tanker carrying fuel, but rather due to some domestic considerations and avoiding causing trouble.

Another source said the ship's cargo was scheduled to go to a port in Syria and then be transported by truck to Lebanon.

The "Tanker Trackers" website, which monitors the movement of oil tankers, also confirmed that the Iranian-flagged tanker "Daran" will not deliver its fuel consignment in Lebanon and will take it to the Syrian port of Banias.

The Tehran-backed Hezbollah group announced last month that the first shipment of Iranian fuel had been sent to Lebanon and then announced an agreement to send two more shipments of fuel from Iran to Lebanon.
