Reyhaneh Taravati, photographer and women's rights activist, arrested by intelligence agents

Reyhaneh Taravati, photographer, videographer, and women's rights activist, was arrested on Monday morning, May 9, by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and taken to an unknown location.

One of Ms. Taravati's relatives told Radio Farda: "Six or seven people who introduced themselves as agents of the Ministry of Intelligence went to the home of this civil activist and took her with them."

The reason for this arrest has not been announced, and Reyhaneh Tarawati's family does not know where she is being held.

Reyhaneh Tarawati was one of the signatories of the statement protesting violence against women in cinema and theater. She was previously arrested in 2014 along with a group following the release of the Iranian version of the song "Happy" and was released a few weeks later.
