Evin Prison; Afsaneh Azimzadeh continues to be detained in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center

Afsaneh Azimzadeh, a child rights activist, is still being held incommunicado in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, seven days after her arrest. Ms. Azimzadeh was arrested on Monday, December 14, at Milad Hospital in Tehran, where she had visited the hospital to follow up on her mother's heart condition.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Sunday, December 20, 2020, Afsaneh Azimzadeh, a child rights activist, is still being held indefinitely in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, 7 days after her arrest.
Azimzadeh's family was informed on Saturday, December 19, after going to the Evin Prosecutor's Office that their son was being held in Ward 2A of Evin Prison. Since his arrest, Afsaneh Azimzadeh has only once, on Tuesday, December 15, during a one-minute phone call with his family, stated that he was being held in one of the detention centers of Evin Prison and said that he did not know the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.
Afsaneh Azimzadeh was arrested by security forces on Monday, December 14, in front of her parents. Ms. Azimzadeh was arrested at Milad Hospital in Tehran, where she had been to follow up on her mother's heart condition. After the arrest, security officers searched her home and her mother's home, confiscating some of her personal belongings and taking them away.
As of the time of writing, there is no information available about the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against him.
Afsaneh Azimzadeh is one of the founders of the Society for the Defense of Working and Street Children in 2003. She has worked in the field of education and assistance to working children for more than 15 years.
