Construction of "Bin-al-Chand-e Harameen" in Shiraz with destruction of historical fabric

According to the statements of "Mohammad Mehdi Kalantari", they are destroying the historical fabric of Shiraz to build "Beinalchandharmain".

It has been about ten days since the authorities began the operation to demolish the historic fabric and houses of Shiraz. The publication of this news on social media has provoked reactions from many people, as well as officials from Fars Province and lovers of cultural heritage.

The authorities have also given the residents of these historic houses a few days to evacuate their homes in these difficult living conditions, and if they refuse to leave, they will cut off their water, electricity, and gas.

Mohammad Mehdi Kalantari is a doctoral student in the restoration of historical buildings and textures, a lecturer, and the secretary of the Scientific Restoration Association at Iran University of Science and Technology, who published statements in support of historical buildings and the authorities' decision to demolish them.

In his speech to the Fars members, he tweeted: "The Roads and Urban Development Department began compulsory acquisition after the June 2019 approval. This means that some government projects are approved and then the properties that are in the path of that project must be demolished. After that, they inform the owner that they must come with the title deed and hand over their properties at the price announced by the official experts of the judiciary. If the owner does not do this, nothing, otherwise the expert's money will be deposited into the court's account and the property will be demolished. This seizure is an aggressive seizure. The pricing is also one-fifth or one-tenth of the real value of the properties, which is not paid to the owners in cash.

"And this amount is enough for the owner to live in a rented house. That is, he used to own a house and now he has to be a tenant."

Mohammad Mehdi Kalantari also spoke about the contradictory statements of the Director General of Roads and Urban Development of Fars and the Supreme Council. He stated that since Mr. Taliban was not present at the meeting and had no knowledge of the contradictory statements of the officials, after entering the meeting, in response to the main question on what basis the acquisitions were made, he said: "The sanctuary needed a wider width of 150 meters, and lovers of cultural heritage would definitely oppose it. We considered the middle limit and halved it, which is sufficient for the sanctuary, and according to these calculations, we acquired and approved the acquisition. The approvals are also legal because we were delegated authority by the president and no one can object."

The full video of this speech and the public's opposition can be viewed below.

Dr. Kalantari also stated in an interview: "The authorities, in their stances, want to build a connection between the two shrines. That is, they want to open up from Shahcheragh to Astaneh. According to the spokesman for the city council and the designer of the shrine complex, Dr. Aliabadi, they are going to plow the entire 360 hectares of historical fabric to connect the different shrines, and we say this should not happen. Because this fabric is one of the best historical fabrics and is our identity document, 90 percent of which remains."

It should be noted that the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Fars Province also announced in response to this news: The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and consequently the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Fars Province, based on its inherent duty and in accordance with legal regulations, are opposed to any destruction of historical fabric, and this General Directorate has not issued any permits or positive responses to inquiries that would lead to the destruction of fabric and the loss of history, culture and identity, and is opposed to it.

These destructions are the new scenario of the Islamic Republic regime, which wants to distract public attention from the rise of a nationwide revolution to overthrow the regime by destroying the historical structures, culture, and identity of Iranians. The Islamic Republic government and its agents have so far committed every crime in order to stay in power, from repression, arrest, and execution of children and adults to fake earthquakes and making the people of Khoy homeless, destroying historical structures, and making landlords rent houses in Shiraz.

According to the people of Iran, this is the way of life and government of justice and Islam, with which the Islamic Republic regime has held the people of Iran captive for 44 years.
