Prince Reza Pahlavi addresses protesting truck drivers: The power is in your hands

Prince Reza Pahlavi addressed the protesting truck drivers' strike, saying: "The power is in your hands, you are on the right path."

Truckers and heavy vehicle drivers went on strike on Monday, May 19. The strike began in Bandar Abbas and spread to the cities of Ardabil, Isfahan, Borujerd, Bandar Imam, Bam, Darab, Zarand, Kerman, Saveh, Semnan, Shahinshahr, Mashhad, Yazd, Ilam, and Qazvin.

As the strike continued, on Saturday, May 24, police officers clashed with protesting drivers in Sirjan who were on strike. The drivers announced that they would continue their strike until the authorities gave a clear and practical response to their demands.

The Union of Truckers and Drivers Organizations across Iran issued a statement saying: "We went on strike because we want our rights. The diesel quota has been reduced, insurance has become more expensive, freight rates are low, and other union demands have not been met. We stand together because unity is the only force that can turn this wheel in our favor. Today, from the heart of Lorestan to the soil of Khuzestan, from the ports of the south to the roads of the north, the trucks are silent, but the drivers' voices have resonated louder than ever across the country."

Prince Reza Pahlavi also supported the truckers' strike, posting a message on social media: "Your demands are right and your strike is a step in the right direction. By stopping the wheels of transportation, you have revealed a clear truth. The power is in your hands, and when this power is transformed into national solidarity, it can change the fate of a nation."

He continued his message by adding: "As one of the vital economic pillars of the country, by protesting against unfair working and living conditions, you are speaking of the common pain of millions of Iranians who have been crushed under the burden of injustice, incompetence, and corruption for years. Our pain is a common and national pain, and when we stand together, the victory of the national revolution will also be close."

The prince wrote at the end of his message: "Today, truck drivers, bakers, teachers, nurses, businessmen, industrialists, refinery workers, and retirees are all victims of an occupying, mafia-like, corrupt, and inefficient regime that spends Iran's resources on Hamas, Hezbollah, Ansarullah, the Guidance Patrol, Internet filtering, and repression, and wastes people's wealth on the memorial of criminals like Raisi, Khomeini, Haniyeh, and Nasrallah."
