158 child laborers identified in North Khorasan

The Deputy Director of Social Affairs of the General Welfare Department of North Khorasan announced the identification of 158 child laborers since the beginning of this year.
According to Hossein Khalilzadeh, these children are engaged in peddling on the streets and public thoroughfares, and this support organization, in the first stage, identifies the guardians of these children and talks to their families about child labor so that they refrain from this practice.
He added that working children who do not have a family head or are abused will be transferred to children and adolescents' homes at the provincial level. According to him, there are 15 centers, including one nursery and 14 homes for children aged three to 18, in North Khorasan, which cover about 220 children and adolescents.
Hossein Khalilzadeh announced that out of the 158 child laborers who have been identified so far, the families of 120 of them have also been identified, who unfortunately live in a precarious situation and force their children to sell or beg in order to make a living.
Khalilzadeh, while expressing that the organization alone cannot organize these children, added: "In this regard, cooperation between the organization and various bodies is necessary so that after identification, these children can enter schools and help their families' livelihoods. In addition, this organization also provides employment facilities to their families in some cases to prevent child labor."
