Queen Farah Pahlavi: The Islamic Republic has left people without any hope and is forcing them to commit suicide

In response to the self-immolation of Jahangir Azadi Miankouhi, a veteran of the eight-year war between Iraq and Iran, and the suicide of Imran Mohammadi Roshan, a guard at an oil well in Khuzestan, Queen Farah Pahlavi said: "In a country where, due to social injustice and disregard for the wishes of its citizens, two compatriots, Jahangir Azadi Miankouhi and Imran Mohammadi Roshan, end their lives in such a brutal way, it shows that society has reached a point where there is no other option but self-immolation and suicide."

He continued in a statement he released on Thursday, adding: "When people without shelter prefer death to this way of life and consider the suffering of dying to be less than the suffering of living, this is a sign of falling into an abyss for which the government is solely responsible and accountable. I wish all the people of Iran a prosperous, free Iran and general welfare for all citizens."
