A Kurdish citizen in Iran was sentenced to five years in prison.

A Kurdish citizen named Salman Afra from the village of Ney in Marivan province was sentenced to five years in prison by the Marivan Revolutionary Court.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Salman Afra, who was arrested in November last year in the city of Marivan, was sentenced to five years in prison by the Marivan Revolutionary Court on charges of "collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government."

According to this report, Mr. Afra was summoned to the Marivan Intelligence Department's news headquarters via telephone call on November 17 of last year, and after appearing at this security institution, he was arrested and transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Department's detention center.

After two months of detention, Salman Afra was temporarily released on bail on January 18, 2018, pending the completion of the trial.
