The cause of poisoning of 280 people in Kermanshah was declared to be "water contamination with sewage".

The Director General of Kermanshah Province's Crisis Management says that according to tests conducted, the main reason for the poisoning of residents of Sheikh Sla village, in Salas Babajani County, Kermanshah, was "water contamination with sewage."
According to Fars News Agency, Jalil Bali said that after two stages of investigation and testing by the Health Vice Chancellor of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, "water contamination due to contact with sewage has been confirmed."
Previously, local media reported that 280 residents of this village had been poisoned.
Ebrahim Shakiba, head of the Kermanshah Provincial Health Center, also said in the same context that the spring supplying the village's water is surrounded by sewage wells, and it is most likely that microbial contamination entered the village's water network through a broken pipe.
He said that the village's water chlorination system had been broken for a long time, and ultimately, this breakdown of the system had caused the village's water to not contain enough chlorine.
