Child sexual abuse tragedy in Calais camp in France!

Seven boys between the ages of 14 and 16 have been sexually assaulted at a forest camp in France over the past six months.

The rape of teenage boys in the Calais Port Forest camp in France is worrying, aid workers have claimed, above all, the lack of adequate measures to protect refugee children and adolescents, the dangers of which are felt throughout Europe after the wave of asylum seekers.

The British newspaper Independent reported: "A volunteer providing medical services to refugees living in the so-called Jungle camp said: 'Seven boys between the ages of 14 and 16 have been brought to my door in the past six months, suffering from sexual assault injuries!'"

He also said that out of the seven cases mentioned, four of the boys needed surgery, of which only one was willing to go to the hospital and receive treatment, while the other three were unwilling to undergo surgery due to fear and shame of having been sexually abused.

He added: "I myself have three sons and I put myself in the shoes of these children's parents. It is very painful that they have migrated to save their lives, and their parents think that their children's place is safe, but in Europe it is unacceptable for a child to be raped. Unaccompanied children are always vulnerable due to their young age, and their vulnerability may be exacerbated by exploitation or sexual abuse."

Europol, the European Union's law enforcement agency, has also expressed concern about the sexual abuse of unaccompanied refugee children across Europe, while in January, a senior Europol official estimated that 10,000 unaccompanied refugee children were missing in Europe.

Volunteers helping refugees in Calais have reported harrowing reports of sexual abuse, adding that the French government is refusing to classify the camp as a protection for children, which has become a humanitarian crisis.
