According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Monday morning, June 20, 1402, the death sentence of Firouz Musa Lo was carried out in Urmia Prison.
This political prisoner was transferred from the general ward of Urmia Prison to an undisclosed location on Saturday, June 19. Mr. Musa Lou had previously been sentenced to death by the Urmia Revolutionary Court on the charge of “committing war through membership in a party opposed to the regime,” and the sentence was communicated to him in prison.
In the late hours of the day, a Persian news agency close to security institutions, without mentioning the name, characteristics, or details of the case, quoted the Chief Justice of West Azerbaijan Province, claiming that the accused of murdering two border guards in this province was executed today. Although the details of the case of Firuz Musa Lu are not clear, based on the evidence, it seems that the reference made by this media outlet and the quote from the judicial official refer to the execution of Mr. Musa Lu.
Firuz Musa Lu was arrested by the IRGC Intelligence forces on July 10, 2019 and transferred to the IRGC's detention center in Urmia for interrogation. He was transferred from the IRGC's detention center in Urmia to the city's prison on January 1, 2019. Mr. Musa Lu was transferred from Urmia Prison to the Intelligence Department's detention center on June 20, 2019, and was returned to prison from the security agency's detention center on July 27 of the same year.
According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death between January 1, 2021 and December 20, 2021. Among those executed, four child criminals were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial institutions, which human rights organizations call "secret" executions.
