Murder of 16-year-old girl by her father in Kermanshah

On Sunday, July 4, a 16-year-old girl in Kermanshah was stabbed to death by her father for coming home late. Iranian law includes provisions to exempt those who commit “honor killings” from severe punishment.
According to HRANA news agency, citing the Iranian Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, July 14, 2021, a girl was murdered by her father in Kermanshah.
According to this report, the girl has been identified as 16-year-old Shakiba Bakhtiar.
The report quotes an informed source as saying: "Shakiba was stabbed to death by her father multiple times because she had gone to the market and returned a little late."
It should be noted that under the Islamic Penal Code, a father who kills his child is sentenced to pay blood money and imprisonment if convicted in court. In some cases, fathers have committed murder after considering that a father cannot be executed for killing his child.
On the other hand, Iranian laws include provisions to exempt individuals who commit "honor killings" from severe punishments.
