Majidreza Sozanchi, a Christian, was released from Greater Tehran Prison.

Majidreza (Davoud) Sozanchi Kashani, a Christian, was sent on leave from Greater Tehran Prison on Thursday, April 9. With Mr. Kashani’s leave linked to his release, he will not return to prison. Majidreza Sozanchi Kashani was sentenced to five years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in 2018, and this sentence was reduced to two years in prison by the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal in December of the same year.

According to HRANA news agency, quoting Mohabat News, on Thursday, April 19, 1402, Majid Sozanchi Kashani, a Christian, was sent on leave from Greater Tehran Prison.

The report quotes Mr. Sozanchi Kashani as saying: "Given the duration of this leave, I will not return to prison, and in fact, the leave will lead to release and the end of the sentence."

"Majid Reza (Davoud) Sozanchi Kashani" was arrested on November 17, 2017, at the home of a Christian in the Tehran-Pars area of ​​Tehran by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and then transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

During interrogation, he was beaten twice by Ministry of Intelligence agents and his ribs were broken.

According to this report, Majidreza Sozanchi Kashani was denied the right to access a lawyer during his interrogation.

This Christian was tried in two sessions by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on May 25, 2018, and previously on April 8, 2018, and sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of "membership in missionary groups" and "missionary activity."

This sentence was reduced to 2 years of imprisonment by Branch 54 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal on December 10, 2018. He was eventually transferred to Greater Tehran Prison to serve his sentence.
