St. Peter's Church restored for the first time by female experts

For the first time, the Vatican has entrusted the restoration of the important St. Peter's Basilica to female experts.

St. Peter's Basilica is considered the most famous work of the Renaissance period, designed by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and is considered the largest architectural and tourist attraction in Vatican City.

The church is of great religious and architectural significance. It is the burial place of Saint Peter, one of the 12 apostles of Christ and the world's first pope. Thousands of people from all over the world also come to this church every year to celebrate Easter, one of the most important religious events for Catholics.

Between 1506 and 1526, the daughters and wives of men who had lost their lives in the construction of this church project temporarily worked on the project in place of their husbands and fathers to earn money.

St. Peter's Basilica has a unique feature that connects the church with the heavens above. A small brass disc placed on the ground, known as the "Winter Solstice Marker", is placed with the obelisk in St. Peter's Square and at the entrance on December 21. On this day, when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky, light enters through the church's façade window and illuminates the disc.

This feature is not only a beautiful demonstration of the interaction between architecture and astronomy, but also a reminder of the importance of revolution in the Christian world. It symbolizes the return of longer days and is often associated with the coming of Christ and the return of light to the world.

Two Italian female experts have now joined the team of restorers at St. Peter's Basilica, according to reports in Vatican media. This is the first time in the history of the basilica that women have been appointed to the restoration and construction work.
