Masih Alinejad after being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize: Iranian women are subjected to cruel and systematic oppression and discrimination

Masih Alinejad, a journalist and female activist against the compulsory hijab, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by a Norwegian lawmaker.

Ms. Alinejad, who is the host and commentator of the Voice of America Tablet program, said in response to the action of Erland Viborg, a member of the Norwegian parliament from the Progress Party, who nominated her for the Nobel Peace Prize, "It is important that Iranian women's struggle against gender apartheid be recognized."

He went on to point out the vital importance of strengthening the global struggle against "terrorist regimes" with the aim of achieving a world filled with peace, saying: "Iranian women are subjected to brutal and systematic oppression and discrimination. If the struggle of the Iranian people for human rights values is recognized, it will impress the regime and the entire world and contribute to world peace."

Erland Wiborg, who has nominated Ms. Alinejad for the Nobel Peace Prize, said that the Iranian journalist's merits are consistent with Alfred Nobel's call for respect for human beings and human freedom, and that Christ's struggle in this regard is "fearless."

Masih Alinejad has been a prominent activist against compulsory hijab in recent years.

He was the target of a failed kidnapping attempt by Islamic Republic agents last summer, an attempt that was thwarted by U.S. security forces.

On December 1, a bipartisan bill, fully titled "Masih Alinejad Harassment and Unlawful Targeting," was introduced by Senators Ben Cardin and Pat Toomey, according to which actions by agents and individuals of the Islamic Republic of Iran's regime to kidnap, harass opponents and dissidents will face consequences, including sanctions.
