Iranian government official: Taliban imposes restrictions on Iranian trucks in Afghanistan

An Iranian government official announced new restrictions imposed by Afghanistan on trade with Iran, saying Iranian trucks can only enter Afghanistan once a month.
On Wednesday, November 3, ILNA news agency quoted Javad Hedayati, Director General of the International Transit and Transportation Office of the Roads Organization, as saying that based on the new policy imposed by the Taliban, if Iranian trucks enter Afghanistan "no sooner than 25 days" after unloading, they will be "subject to criminal charges."
He pointed out that new managers in Afghanistan "do not have the background and experience to work in this field," and said that those with a history of working in this field will "give them a hand."
According to Hedayati, while Iranian trucks are unloaded at the border, Afghan trucks travel "all the way to Bandar Abbas" after entering Iranian territory.
The government official emphasized that these restrictions have not yet been implemented, adding: "Our hands are open to retaliatory action."
The creation of Afghanistan's trade restrictions for Iran comes at a time when Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads, Khairollah Khademi, had previously announced efforts to build an alternative route, stating that the Republic of Azerbaijan would receive "a fee of $130" from Iranian trucks by setting up a checkpoint.
