Letter from a Christian convert from Evin: Your words during interrogation were full of insults

“What have I done against you and our country that you hold such hatred in your hearts? I have learned from the Bible to love my enemies and to pray for the good and blessings of those who hate me; but what have you really learned?” These heartbreaking words were written by Amin Afshar Naderi, a Christian convert on a hunger strike in Evin Prison.

Ruth Gledhill wrote on the Christian Today website: Amin Afshar Naderi decided to go on a hunger strike to die in Evin Prison after being sentenced to fifteen years in prison last week and his Christian faith was subjected to endless insults. He is one of four Christians who received heavy sentences last week.

Three other Christians have been sentenced to ten years in prison each. Amin Afshar Naderi has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison on the double charge of blasphemy.

In his letter from prison, he says: "I have learned not to speak obscene and vulgar words; but what have you learned? You, whose words during the interrogation were full of insults and profanities, you who ridiculed my faith and beliefs and attacked my monotheism; but I did not insult you..."
