Ned Price: We only have a few weeks.

The US State Department spokesman said that if Tehran and Washington do not reach an agreement to return to the JCPOA, the United States will take a different path. Price reiterated that there has been little progress in the negotiations, which require more momentum.
In his latest press conference, Ned Price expressed hope that further progress would be made in the negotiations to revive the JCPOA. Referring to the short time left, he warned that the United States would choose another path if an agreement with Iran was not reached.
The US State Department spokesman said on Thursday, January 6, that the discussion is about weeks, not months. In explaining the missed opportunity, he pointed to the speed of Iran's nuclear steps and the point of no return.
Tehran has been violating its JCPOA commitments step by step since the US unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.
Price had said in his press conference two days earlier: "The steps the United States is taking to ease sanctions and Iran's steps to return to its JCPOA commitments are the focus of the negotiations."
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative in the Vienna talks, tweeted: "My impression is that if Iran and the United States reach an understanding to revive the agreement, they will sit together at the table of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA and the sanctions will be lifted."
