Narges Mohammadi holds the Prisons Organization and the Judiciary responsible for the murder of "Alireza Shir Mohammad Ali"

Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist imprisoned in Iran, issued a statement blaming the Prisons Organization and the Judiciary for the killing of Alireza Shirmohammadi Ali.

In this statement, published on Tuesday, July 25, on the website of the Campaign for the Defense of Political Prisoners, Ms. Mohammadi referred to the murder of this 21-year-old young man in Fashafoyeh Prison and called it a reminder of the incompetence of judicial officials and the prison organization.

The statement states that despite the murders of political prisoners and suspicious deaths in detention centers in recent years, not only has no impartial court been formed to investigate them, but these murders have continued and will continue in the absence of oversight and inspection by independent oversight bodies.

This imprisoned human rights activist went on to point out other political and ideological prisoners, including Zeinab Jalalian, Sepideh Qolyan, Dervish women, Marjan Davari, etc., who are held among women on ordinary charges, and stated that they have been repeatedly warned about this issue and requested to return them to the Evin Women's Ward, but this has not been heeded.

Alireza Shirmohammad Ali, a political prisoner in Tehran's Fashafoyeh Prison, was stabbed to death by two inmates on Monday evening, June 10.

His lawyer stated that the attack was carried out by two murder suspects who apparently had no problems with Alireza Shir Mohammad Ali.

Alireza Shir Mohammad Ali was sentenced to 8 years in prison in July 2018 on charges of "propaganda against the regime, insulting sacred places, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, and insulting the leadership." The prisoner's appeal trial was scheduled to be held on July 8 of this year.
