Iran and North Korea cooperate in the production of intercontinental missiles

According to a report published by UN experts, the Islamic Republic and North Korea continued their missile cooperation in 2020. North Korea is said to have assisted Iran in the production of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

A United Nations report on missile cooperation between North Korea and Iran has been submitted to the organization's Security Council.

The AFP news agency, which obtained the report, announced its publication on Tuesday, February 9th (February 11) and discussed some aspects of it.

The report, in addition to listing North Korea's widespread violations of Security Council resolutions, also mentions the country's cooperation with the Islamic Republic in the production of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

North Korea is said to have delivered sensitive components needed to produce ballistic missiles to Iran in 2020.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has denied any missile cooperation with North Korea in the field of producing intercontinental missiles.

On the other hand, it has been said that North Korea has repeatedly violated Security Council resolutions in the past year in terms of developing its ballistic missile production program as well as its nuclear activities.

The report also cited North Korea's violation of economic sanctions on gasoline imports. Under oil sanctions, North Korea is only allowed to import 500,000 barrels of gasoline and petroleum products per year.

A United Nations report indicates that North Korea imported more than the designated amount of gasoline and diesel between January 1, 2020 and September 30 of that year.

This is while Russia and China, two countries that are considered North Korea's supporters, have claimed that North Korea's gasoline and diesel imports are lower than the amount announced by the United States.
