Raisi's Labor Minister Resigns, Minister of Public Security Receives Yellow Card from Parliament

Finally, a few days after unconfirmed reports were published about the resignation of Labor Minister Hojatollah Abdul-Maliki, he published the text of his resignation addressed to Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday, June 14.

At the same time, Reza Fatemi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, was also unable to provide a convincing answer to the questions of parliamentarians about the reasons for the ministry's weakness in controlling prices and its inability to support industrialists and mine operators, and received the first yellow card from the parliament to the Ebrahim Raisi government.

Labor Minister Hojjat Abdul-Maliki wrote in several tweets addressed to Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday that he was resigning from the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare "in order to increase coordination in the government."

An hour later, the government spokesman officially announced that the president had approved Mr. Abdul-Maliki's resignation.

The government spokesman also announced that Mohammad Hadi Zahedi Wafa will replace Mr. Abdul-Maliki as of Tuesday. Zahedi Wafa was the First Vice President's Deputy for Economic and Infrastructure Coordination and Supervision.

The Labor Minister announced his resignation while his media assistant Behzad Mehrkesh had previously written in response to speculation about the dismissal of the Labor Minister: "It's a lie as always; before, they lied with green bracelets, now with a long beard."

Criticism against the Minister of Labor increased when he supported a 10% increase in the salaries of pensioners earning average and close to minimum wages, as well as a unilateral reduction of 100,000 Tomans in the housing allowance of employed and retired workers by the government.

Hojjatollah Abdul-Malaki had previously made unprofessional statements on several occasions, including saying that "you can create a job with one million tomans, and now, despite the passage of several years and the high cost of raw materials, you can still create a job with one million tomans."

He also proposed that agricultural land be freely changed under the title of "Economic Revolution 1400" and claimed in a television program that several young Iranians had succeeded in producing an "Iranian Lamborghini."

On Tuesday, news agencies in Iran also reported that the parliament had received the first yellow card for Ebrahim Raisi's cabinet.

According to ISNA, members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly were not satisfied with the answer given by Reza Fatemi Amin, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, regarding the reasons for the ministry's weak performance in controlling the prices of goods and its inability to support industrialists and mine operators, to a question from Mohammad Vahidi, a representative of Bojnourd, and gave him a yellow card.

After Minister Samat's response, Mr. Vahidi, as the representative of the question drafters, announced that, considering that nearly five months had passed since the relevant issue was raised in the commission and to the minister regarding the resolution of these problems, the problems still remained and left it up to the representatives to judge Minister Samat's responses.

Of the total 246 representatives present at the meeting on Tuesday, June 14, 91 were convinced by Fatemi Amin's answers and 141 were not convinced.

Previously, experts had repeatedly warned against selecting inexperienced individuals who lacked sufficient knowledge and experience in Ebrahim Raisi's cabinet.
