The Status of "Payam Wali," a Baha'i Citizen and Human Rights Activist

Payam Vali is a Baha'i citizen and human rights activist living in Karaj who was arrested in his home during the first days of nationwide protests and transferred to Qezel Hesar Prison.

The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has historically oppressed Baha'is inside Iran and deprived them of the right to even the most basic amenities. This practice has continued to this day, and many of them have been either killed or imprisoned, one of whom is Payam Wali, a resident of Karaj.

"Payam Wali" has been transferred from Qezel Hesar Prison to an unknown location in the past few days, and this has caused great concern among family members and the Baha'i community in Iran.

The charges against Mr. Payam Vali include: propaganda against the regime through the promotion of the Baha'i faith, propaganda against the holy law of Islam, communication and cooperation with media outlets abroad, sending news of human rights violations, and inciting people to create ongoing protests through cyberspace.

Payam Wali's 10-year-old daughter, Diane, has posted a video on social media demanding her father's release. In the video, she says that her father has been oppressed since childhood and is now being imprisoned for being a Baha'i. She says that her father is innocent, release him.

Let us be the voice of the message of Vali, Dyan, human rights activists, journalists, the people of Kurdistan, Zahedan, and other protesters throughout Iran.
