President Trump issues order to stop separating children from illegal immigrants

The US president signed an executive order on Wednesday to end the separation of illegal immigrant families from their children at the country's southern border.
"We want families to be together. That's very important. I'm signing something that will make that happen," President Trump said during remarks at the White House.
The separation of children of illegal immigrants from their parents has been a hot topic in the United States for a week now. The media said it was due to a "zero tolerance" policy issued by the Justice Department. But the Trump administration said it was the law and the government was simply enforcing it.
Under President Trump's new order, illegal immigrants and their children under 18 will be detained together at border crossings, and their children will not be separated from their families.
It was also announced that processing the cases of adults with children will be given priority at the Immigration Department.
Earlier, President Trump told a group of congressional lawmakers visiting the White House that seeing images of children crying as they are separated from their parents breaks everyone's heart. He added, "We want to have kind hearts, but we also want secure borders."
