"70 to 80 percent decrease" in nut sales in Tehran

Mostafa Ahmadi, head of the Tehran Nuts and Dried Fruits Union, says that according to bankers and retailers in the city, it can be said that nut sales have dropped by 70 to 80 percent on the eve of Nowruz.

Referring to a 70 to 80 percent decrease in the production of pistachios, walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts this year, the head of the Tehran Dried Fruit and Nuts Union added that about 30 percent of the increase in the price of these products was due to the increase in the exchange rate, and a significant part of the increase in prices was due to the decrease in the production of these products due to frost damage to orchards this year.

The Journalists' Club reported that the decline in people's purchasing power is not limited to nuts, but is also noticeable in other parts of the market, including clothing.
