Pastor Henry Manoukian dies at age 62

It is with deep sorrow and sorrow that we extend our condolences to the Persian-speaking Christian community on the passing of our dear brother, Pastor Henry Manoukian. Pastor Manoukian passed away on Thursday morning, December 22, 2016 at 7:50 AM in Ankara, Turkey, due to cardiac arrest and joined the eternal embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Henry Manukian, Marina's husband and father of three daughters, Tatiana, Anastasia, and Svetlana, sought refuge with his family in Turkey after being forcibly exiled from Iran following the brutal and numerous persecutions of the Islamic Republic regime, and is going through a very difficult time in Turkey.

Pastor Henry Manukian, who witnessed the tragic incident of the church officials transferring books to special vehicles, survived two heart attacks with the help of God, but it was these pressures and torments that caused his physical condition to deteriorate in the last 5 months. Pastor Manukian's problem started with his liver and gradually led to kidney failure and his need for dialysis. Today, December 22, 2016, before dialysis, Pastor Manukian suffered a cardiac arrest and resuscitation operations on him were unsuccessful.

Henry Manoukian was born in Tehran in 1955. Although he was born into a Christian family, he viewed Christianity from the perspective of the Sharia and had not received a relationship with God and the new birth. Henry became addicted to heroin in his youth and, according to him, Satan had darkened everything in his life through addiction. But God had a great plan for his son.

On June 15, 1979, at the age of 25, while imprisoned in Tehran's Qasr Prison, Henry, after hearing about "Jesus Christ being the Son of God," decided to surrender his heart, soul, and spirit to the living God, Jesus Christ, and received the new birth of God's Holy Spirit. From that day forward, Henry Manoukian entered into an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

God restored health and joy to Henry's life. Henry realized the liberating power of faith in Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to serving the Word of God and preaching the message of Jesus Christ. He blessed and liberated many of his fellow countrymen who, like him, were living in the bondage of addiction.

But the Islamic Republic regime was hostile to Henry Manoukian from the very beginning of his service and used every means and method to prevent Henry and other servants from serving in Iran. These unjust and inhuman pressures and persecutions continued even as far as Turkey.

Henry married Marina in 1985. The result of this marriage is three daughters. Henry and Marina lived together for 31 years with love, intimacy, and God's blessings.
