Yasmine Moghbali was selected to command the SpaceX spacecraft mission.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, officially selected Yasmine Moghbeli as the commander of the SpaceX spacecraft mission to the International Space Station on Thursday.

NASA announced in a statement that the agency, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, has completed the selection process for the two astronauts to fly on a SpaceX mission to the International Space Station. According to the statement, Iranian-born astronaut Yasmine Moghbeli will be the commander of the mission, while European astronaut Andreas Morgensen will be the pilot. Two other operations specialists will also join the team, but their selection process has not yet been finalized.

The mission is scheduled to launch in 2023 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and the two will join astronauts currently on the International Space Station.

This is the first space mission experience for Yasmine Moghbeli, who joined NASA in 2017.

Yasmin is a native of Baldwin, New York, and holds a master's degree in aerospace engineering. As a Super Cobra pilot and Marine Corps test pilot, she has flown over 150 missions and logged 2,000 hours of flight time in over 25 different aircraft.

He also graduated with honors from the United States Naval Test Pilot School in Maryland.

Yasmin is also the mother of twin daughters.
