Another lawyer arrested by security forces in Iran

Mohammad Hadi Erfanian Kassab, a lawyer in Iran, was arrested by security forces and transferred to Evin Prison after appearing at the Evin Prosecutor's Office.
Mohammad Hadi Erfanian Kassab, a lawyer in Iran who had previously been summoned to the Evin Prosecutor's Office following a complaint from the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Service, was arrested by security forces on Sunday, May 27, while attending Branch 2 of the Evin Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
According to available reports, there is no information yet about the reason for the arrest and the charges brought against this attorney, and the attorney's lawyers were not allowed to attend the interrogation session.
It is worth noting that this attorney has represented cases in his professional portfolio, including those of Alireza Shirmohammad Ali, a political prisoner murdered in the Greater Tehran Prison, Raheleh Rahemipour, Marjan Davari, and a number of Baha'i citizens.
The arrest of this lawyer comes at a time when the coronavirus has spread widely in Iranian prisons and the lives of many prisoners, such as Mr. Mohammad Hadi Erfanian Kasab, are in danger. Despite the widespread spread of the virus in prisons, the authorities of the Islamic Republic have so far prevented the release or granting leave to some political and civil prisoners.
Earlier, Javed Rehman, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, called on Tehran to temporarily release all prisoners. He had previously said that the continued detention of political prisoners amid the coronavirus outbreak was “regrettable and concerning.”
