United Voice for June 2021 Election Boycott

A number of civil and political activists from 50 cities and 25 provinces of Iran, through a letter, called on the people to boycott the 2021 presidential election in order to prevent the continuation of a government that is opposed to the people. The content of this letter, signed by survivors of victims of nationwide protests, religious minorities, and civil and political activists, is as follows:
To the Great Nation of Iran
United Voice for June 2021 Election Boycott
and Non-Violent Transition from the Islamic Republic
to a Government of the People, by the People, and for the People
Dear Compatriots,
We, the signatories of this letter, represent a sample of the spectrum of the Iranian nation—dissidents, believers and religions, diverse tribes and ethnicities of Iran, from various provinces, cities and villages across our beloved country. Like you, millions of Iranian citizens have become victims of corruption, violence, and the inefficiency of the Guardianship of the Jurist regime and the closed, dictatorial constitution of the system in power.
We humbly and affectionately ask you, our esteemed compatriots, to unite with us in order to protect the national interests of Iran and preserve the lives and property of the people, to bring about a non-violent and peaceful transition from the dysfunctional Guardianship of the Jurist system and the imposed, anti-human constitution toward achieving a democratic, secular constitution based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Under the banner of the Democratic and Secular National Solidarity Movement, we boycott the theatrical June 28, 2021 presidential election of the Islamic Republic so that the current anti-people government does not continue.
The world today, witnessing the extensive popular protests over the past 42 years, which have been severely suppressed, particularly in the last 12 years—from the June 2009 uprising, December 2017, and November 2019 to today—has seen the will of “we,” the people of Iran, in opposition to the thieving, religion-ruling Islamic Republic system (Guardianship of the Jurist – Ali Khamenei and his constitution) and our aspiration to achieve a democratic and universal constitution.
The foundations of human rights and the interests of the Iranian nation for coexistence in democratic alignment with neighboring countries and other countries in the world are not negotiable in any way, and the world must understand this well.
We strongly declare that those parts of the international community that stand with the Democratic and Secular National Solidarity Movement of Iran and do not seek to trade the nation’s interests with the religion-ruling thieves of the Islamic Republic at the negotiating table will remain in the historical memory of the Iranian nation as true friends and allies of democratic Iran.
Dear Compatriots, the widespread boycott of the fake and prescribed presidential election by the masses of the Iranian people expresses our will and vote in alignment with the National Solidarity Movement. This movement, with firm resolve to replace the apartheid religious constitution of the Islamic Republic with a new democratic constitution that guarantees unconditional implementation of human rights for every citizen of our country, proceeds to create the following conditions:
1. Removal of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
2. Holding a referendum for dissolving the Islamic Republic’s constitution,
3. Creating the necessary and sufficient conditions for holding free and fair elections during a transitional period under the supervision of impartial organizations such as the United Nations to form a constituent assembly,
4. Drafting a new constitution by the constituent assembly, based on the following values:
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted December 10, 1948, and all its conventions and covenants,
- Separation of religion from government based on complete respect for all religions, beliefs, and dissenters,
- Equality of citizens’ rights for all Iranian people of every belief, gender, tribe and ethnicity before the law,
- Equality of women’s rights with men in all spheres of life and politics,
- Freedom of thought and expression, freedom of the press and media,
- Freedom of association and activity of parties, labor unions, craftspeople, artists, writers, and others,
- Establishment of a free economy based on social justice and prohibition of all forms of monopoly, creation of equal opportunities for all citizens,
- Implementation of peaceful foreign policy and constructive diplomatic relations based on national interests, commitment to and respect for international law and order to preserve peace, security and stability in the region and around the world, and commitment to the protocol on the non-proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
Realizing these aspirations rests on the shoulders of all segments of Iranian society, including craftspeople, artists, journalists, educators, workers, athletes, enlightened clerics and government officials, to join together in this national path and in support of the National Solidarity Movement with the Iranian people to boycott the elections and bring about a non-violent transition from the Islamic Republic system. This is for all people regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, and beliefs—the Iran of our nation.
To the Armed Forces of Iran:
Each of you is a proud son and daughter of the Iranian homeland, father, mother, brother, sister, friend, acquaintance and neighbor of the people and a member of Iran’s family. We call upon you, the guardians of this land and frontier, to align with the National Solidarity Movement for a non-violent transition from the Islamic Republic to a democratic-secular government. “We, the Iranian nation” have been struggling for over a century to achieve democracy and human rights, and we deserve dignified living conditions and a bright future for everyone.
We learned from the bitter memory of 1979 that vengeance, purges of opponents, executions, hatred-mongering and violence have destroyed the cultural, moral, economic, political and social fabric of our country. Iran, this ancient human civilization resting on immense wealth of natural and human resources, has been brought to misery and poverty with the Islamic Republic, resulting in global isolation. We as a nation, from staunch opponents to government bodies, have all been trapped in bitter captivity by the religion-ruling thieves of the Islamic Republic.
Post-Islamic Republic Iran will be governed within the framework of rule of law based on human rights. No citizen will be detained or imprisoned because of political or ideological beliefs. State killings and death sentences will be completely eliminated, vengeance and enmity will disappear from among us. Those with blood-stained hands in crimes against the Iranian people will be answerable to the Iranian people in an independent democratic civil justice system and will be dealt with fairly.
We, the signatories of this letter, with mutual assistance, from merchants to intellectuals, from workers and laborers to entrepreneurs, from intellectuals and educators to armed forces, united and steadfast until our last breath, will remain committed to the path of the Democratic and Secular National Solidarity Movement to establish rule of law based on democracy and human rights values. Without doubt, we the Iranian people will achieve victory, and united Iran will once again play a fundamental role in diplomacy, friendship and cooperation with the free world in promoting peace and stability in the global village.
With humility and warmest wishes
