Call for Expulsion of Iranian Ambassador from Britain Following Controversial Message and Attack on Jews in London

Following the publication of an inflammatory message by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran calling on Iranians to sacrifice for their homeland, and the occurrence of a knife attack against two Jewish men in London, a wave of concern and anger has been sparked; religious leaders have viewed these developments as a sign of increased threats against minorities and have called on the British government to ensure community security through immediate action, including the expulsion of Iran’s ambassador.
Following the publication of a controversial message by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Britain and a knife attack against two Jewish citizens in London, “Ephraim Mirvis,” the Chief Rabbi of Britain, called for the immediate expulsion of Iran’s ambassador. These incidents have raised serious concerns about the security of religious minorities and the role of political incitement in escalating violence, and have drawn the attention of public opinion and government officials.
The matter began when the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran published a message in Persian on the social media platform Telegram, in which it called on Iranians residing in Britain to sacrifice for their homeland and remain loyal to their country. This message, which was interpreted by some observers as a kind of incitement to extremist actions, triggered widespread reactions.
One day after the publication of this message, in the Golders Green area of London, two Jewish men were targeted in a knife attack by an assailant and were wounded. A group calling itself “The Movement of the Companions of the Right Islamic” claimed responsibility for the attack, and it is said to have connections to the Iranian government. This timing has caused many observers to express concern about a possible link between the incitatory atmosphere and this attack.
In response to these developments, Chief Rabbi Mirvis said sharply: “We are amazed at how such a thing is possible! On Tuesday, the Iranian Embassy asked Iranians in Britain to ‘be loyal to your country’ and even put their lives at risk. This is essentially a call for martyrdom. A day later, we see someone trying to knife Jews in London!”
He also added, referring to the actions of some countries: “How is it that Iran’s ambassador was expelled in Australia, and similarly in Lebanon and other countries, their ambassador has been expelled, but why is Iran’s ambassador still here?”
Following these events, the British Foreign Office summoned “Syed Ali Mousavi,” the ambassador of the Islamic Republic, and London’s Metropolitan Police announced that they are investigating the content of this message and its possible connection to the attack. However, no official decision for his expulsion has been announced so far.
These events have once again highlighted concerns about increasing threats against the Jewish community in Europe. Religious leaders and civil organizations warn that any inflammatory message or action can quickly lead to actual violence, and are calling on governments to deal with these threats with greater firmness.
In this regard, Chief Rabbi Mirvis has called for the declaration of a national state of emergency and has warned against what he described as “terrorist activities supported by the Iranian government”; a warning that could influence British security policies in the coming days.
