Trump’s Statements Against the Islamic Republic: Accusations of Killings, Fake Information, and Iran’s Protest Crisis

Trump’s aggressive statements against the Islamic Republic revealed fabricated information and severe contradictions with realities.
Donald Trump, in his latest controversial remarks during a conversation with journalists, once again accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of severely suppressing nationwide protests and spreading false information, making claims beyond official media reports that have drawn widespread international reactions.
In response to a question about domestic protests, Trump said: “Officials of the Islamic Republic issued statements saying that if you protest, you will be shot and killed.” He also emphasized: “Protesters don’t have weapons. Protesting is very difficult for them. I completely understand this.”
Continuing these remarks, he referred to the bloody events of recent December protests and claimed: “They killed at least 32,000 protesters. We think the number is much higher than that; people who were very eager and wanted to see change.” He repeatedly stressed: “Much more than 32,000 people were shot and killed.”
Trump’s statements regarding the death toll from protests have faced varied reactions. According to reports compiled from international sources, the number of victims from Iran’s 2025-2026 protests is estimated between several thousand to over 30,000 people, but accurate independent statistics remain disputed, and human rights organizations are calling for further investigations.
Trump also described the Islamic Republic as a “master of media manipulation and public relations” and stated that the regime uses artificial intelligence as a tool to spread false information, including claims about suicide boats and attacks on U.S. aircraft carriers, which he labeled as fabricated.
He said: “They showed fake suicide boats, it’s all false information to show their army is strong!”
In another section of these remarks, Trump referred to published news about the aircraft carrier “Abraham Lincoln” and said that alleged reports about fires or this ship being targeted were also fabricated.
Criticisms of Trump’s policies are not limited to within the United States. Media outlets, political experts, and even some European allies have warned about his aggressive tone regarding the Iran issue. While he has sought international support for other issues to free the Strait of Hormuz, some countries have refrained from broad participation in this coalition and have emphasized diplomatic solutions.
On the other hand, Trump’s statements about the high death toll from Iran’s protests and the role of media have caused media and Islamic Republic officials to also react to these claims, describing them as false or politically motivated.
Widespread protests in Iran that began in late 2025 and faced severe security crackdowns have become one of the most important political crises of the past decade. Compiled reports show that the Iranian government, through widespread internet shutdowns and heavy presence of security forces, has attempted to prevent the dissemination of actual information; a situation that independent and international media have described as an “information blockade.”
While criticizing the Islamic Republic, Trump has repeatedly called on the global community and international institutions to address the killing of protesters and respect for freedom of expression, though critics argue that such statements without legal grounds may exacerbate regional complexities.
