A Heartbreaking Account of «Suda Akramifard’s» Courage and Her Mother’s Spiritual Transformation Following the Tragedy

In the shadow of direct gunfire at protesters in Karaj, the mother of «Suda Akramifard» speaks of her daughter’s courage and her own conversion to Christianity; the delayed disclosure of this news reflects the severe security atmosphere in Iran.

In the latest reports on the suppression of protests in Iran, new details have emerged about the killing of 16-year-old «Suda Akramifard», revealing the intensity of violence by the Islamic Republic’s security forces and simultaneously marking a spiritual experience and transformative journey for her mother.

According to «Samira», Suda’s mother, on the evening of Friday, the 19th of Dey, thousands of people gathered in the streets of Karaj to protest; the same day security forces received orders to open fire directly on protesters. Samira and her daughter, aware of the dangers, left their phones at home and joined the crowd of protesters.

Suda’s mother explained in an interview with CBN News: «She was extraordinarily brave. Until her last breath, she chanted slogans, positioned herself at the front of the crowd, and stood face-to-face with armed men.» A bullet struck directly into Suda’s heart, and she died instantly.

This family had previously participated in the «Woman, Life, Freedom» protests that formed following Mahsa Amini’s death; at that time, Suda was only 13 years old. Her mother says: «Suda used to say that if something happened to me, remember me on the day of Iran’s freedom.»

Suda always believed she should be a representative of those who died in the streets, conveying her message this way: «Come to the streets for the homeland, for freedom, and for Prince Reza Pahlavi.»

Weeks after this tragedy, Samira left Iran and settled in northern Iraq. During this period, she underwent a spiritual experience that she herself describes as «unexpected».

She explained her inclination toward Christianity: «I was not a believing Muslim in my childhood and did not connect with Shia Islam, but I was always curious about Jesus Christ. Through Instagram videos, I had heard things about him, but I never imagined I would have such an encounter with him one day.»

Samira was baptized in a house church in northern Iraq and spoke about this decision: «Since I came to know Christ, many blessings have entered my life and I have found deep peace. Today, despite all the hardships I endure, because of Christ’s presence in my life, I feel a deep and indescribable peace.»

According to observers, news about the killing of many protesters in Iran is either released with delay or not disclosed at all, a situation that reflects the severity of the security situation in the country. Families are forced into silence under heavy security pressures, and this causes human truths and the testimonies of victimized people to remain hidden in many cases.

Samira also called on world leaders to take action to end the Islamic Republic’s rule, describing the Iranian government as a «cancerous tumor». She emphasized: «We have lost many young people and are still witnessing their executions.»

Suda’s mother has announced that until Iran’s freedom and her daughter’s sacrifice bears fruit, she will continue enlightenment and struggle. Her account not only presents a painful picture of Iran’s situation, but also demonstrates the power of faith and hope amid suffering and loss.
