16-Year-Old Christian Girl Victim of Abduction, Rape, and Forced Conversion

A 16-year-old Christian girl from Pakistan became a victim of abduction, rape, and forced conversion after being kidnapped.

Pakistan has once again witnessed the abduction, rape, and forced conversion of a young Christian girl. The 16-year-old girl, whose identity is protected for security and legal reasons, revealed all the incidents that occurred from her abduction through repeated rapes and being forced into prostitution by her kidnapper after her rescue.

She is from the “Mananwala” area in Punjab Province, Pakistan. On May 19, 2025, she was abducted by a 28-year-old married man named “Muhammad Asim.” The girl remained in captivity for three months, and after being freed from her kidnapper, she stated: “I was going to a training center to prepare for exams and complete educational courses when Asim noticed me. He initially tried to deceive me with gifts, but when I refused, he began to harass and torment me.

After abducting me, Asim took my fingerprints on blank papers and created forged documents for forced conversion and marriage, claiming I had voluntarily converted to Islam and married him. He moved me to his house, but his first wife did not accept this marriage and left the home.”

The 16-year-old girl continued: “In the following days, Asim repeatedly raped me and, along with his mother, subjected me to psychological pressure to make me believe that my family would no longer accept me. They also forced me to use drugs to deprive me of my ability to think clearly. The abuse did not end there. Asim would take me to different places and force me to sleep with other men, using me as a tool to generate income.

When I resisted, he subjected me to severe physical torture and abuse. I was trapped in hell and prayed every day for God to kill me.”

When their daughter was first abducted, the family did not pursue official investigation due to fear and negative reactions in their predominantly Muslim neighborhood. Despite all their efforts to find their daughter, they were met with police negligence.

“Catherine Sapna,” a representative of the “True Spirit of Christians” organization, intervened in their case and assisted them. After the family exhausted all efforts with the help of community elders without results, the organization stepped in to help the family. Through continuous legal proceedings, they forced the court to take action regarding their daughter’s abduction case. Sapna stated: “The police initially classified this case as a love marriage and refused to register it as a kidnapping report. This is a recurring pattern in cases involving religious minorities in Pakistan.”

The organization’s legal action led police to arrest Asim and the girl in mid-August; however, the victim girl faced humiliation even after arrest in the hospital and detention center. The judge in the case, after witnessing the severe physical and psychological condition of the young girl, finally issued an order for her temporary release so she could receive medical care, even though she was only a victim, not a criminal.

Catherine Sapna strongly emphasized regarding this case that it is another example of widespread violence against Christian girls and other religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan. She added: “Our priority is to improve the physical and psychological health of the victim and pursue legal action against the perpetrators of this crime.”
