American Christian Organizations Jointly Call for US Support of Iranian People

American Christian organizations, united together, have called on the US government to support the Iranian people.

Christian organizations in America have launched a joint campaign calling on US President Donald Trump to make a decisive decision to counter Iran’s nuclear threat and support human rights and religious freedoms in the country.

The campaign is organized by American Christian leaders and the Israel Allies Foundation for Iran Change, which has also been endorsed by Sam Brownback, former US Ambassador for International Religious Freedom. The coalition’s statement notes that millions of pro-Israel Christians in the United States support this campaign.

The campaign by American Christian organizations comes as tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, and human rights activists are working to draw global attention to the human rights situation in Iran.

The statement, while referencing records of imprisonment and torture of Christians, systematic discrimination against Baha’is, Jews, Sunni Muslims and Zoroastrians in Iran, accuses the Islamic Republic of depleting Iran’s national resources to finance terrorism, including Hamas and Hezbollah groups.

In this statement, the organizations, citing human rights violations and the absence of democratic freedoms in Iran, called on Trump to take a decisive and bold decision to counter Iran’s nuclear threat and support popular uprisings in Iran. They also expressed support for regime change in Iran.

The campaign has also drawn attention to religious freedoms and opportunities for women that existed before the 1979 revolution.

Sam Brownback, who is a supporter of the campaign, said in this regard: “Iran’s government support for terrorism has caused millions of people to suffer.”

Susan Michael, director of American Christian Leaders for Israel, also called on the United States to learn from its past mistakes and support the Iranian people.

Josh Reinstein, head of the Israel Allies Foundation, also said: “The time has come to act with power. Christians throughout America, who form the backbone of the Republican Party, are gathering to ask President Trump to support Israel and join the fight against Iran’s nuclear threat.”
