“Mohammad Khalid Hanafi”: In Islamic Sharia, Man is Not Free, But Rather a Slave

Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, Taliban minister of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice, stated that in Islamic Sharia, man is not free, but rather a slave.

Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, Taliban minister of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice in Afghanistan, is among the close associates of “Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada,” the Taliban leader, and one of the most hardline figures in the group.

He emphasized in his statements that modern educational institutions, particularly universities, are in contradiction with the rulings of Islamic Sharia. In his remarks to a gathering of clerics, he said: “Universities and other educational centers focus on the concept of human freedom, which contradicts the commands of God and His Prophet.”

Mohammad Khalid, despite the fact that Hibatullah has formed a committee to reform girls’ curricula, has opposed girls’ education and even banned it. Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, he has repeatedly attacked schools and universities.

Khalid Hanafi, discussing the status of humans in Islamic Sharia, says: “In Islamic Sharia, man is not free, but rather a slave. The idea that people are free in choosing the path of their life contradicts the Noble Quran and the hadith of the Prophet.” Khalid Hanafi, while criticizing what he called a “modern and deviant interpretation of religion,” continued: “This interpretation permits shaving beards, wearing trousers, suits and ties, and even encourages women to go out without hijab. This deviation is systematically taught in universities and helps promote the idea of human freedom among young men and women.”

Mohammad Khalid also, while emphasizing the necessity of defending the existing Islamic system in Afghanistan, warned against leniency toward unveiled women and said: “This could lead to the fall of the Taliban.”

It is worth noting that he is on the sanctions list of the United Nations and the European Union due to imposing strict restrictions on the Afghan people.
