Earthquake in Karaj and Tehran Not Recorded by Any International Organization

An earthquake that shook Karaj and Tehran was not recorded by any international organization except the University of Tehran’s Seismology Center.
On Saturday evening, the 13th of Ordibehesht, a 4-magnitude earthquake shook Alborz Province. According to the University of Tehran’s Seismology Center, this earthquake occurred at 21:47 on Saturday in Alborz Province, with distances recorded at 4 kilometers from Marddasht in Alborz, 5 kilometers from Safadasht in Tehran, and 8 kilometers from Meshkin Dasht in Alborz.
Ali Baytallahi, head of the seismology department, stated: “The Marddasht-Karaj faults are active and this 4-magnitude earthquake was serious but caused no damage. Unfortunately, the entire extent of the North Tehran fault, the Baghestan fault north of Karaj, and the Marddasht faults south of Karaj cover this active seismic zone.
The main fault in this region is the known Marddasht fault, and although the earthquake that occurred in this area was not large, it was felt by local residents because it was close to residential areas.”
Islamic Republic media reported the 4-magnitude earthquake while the United States Geological Survey and other international organizations have not recorded any report of such an event in Iran, with only the University of Tehran’s Seismology Center as the sole source reporting this earthquake, and official sources have so far refrained from providing details about this earthquake.
According to statements from local residents in Karaj, an explosion sound was heard before the earthquake, and afterward buildings began to shake. Citizens in western and central Tehran had also reported the activation of air defense systems and low-altitude fighter jet flights around 20:40 that evening. These events occur while government media and official authorities have shown no reaction to them so far.
Analysts described this event as “cover stories for security or military activities,” an issue that had been repeated in the past.
